Because sometimes there’s days it doesn’t feel like it’s worthwhile … in the moment,” he said. When you hear from kids that you coached 20 years ago, coming back and saying stuff, it’s really nice, and it just makes it all worthwhile. And I think some of the stuff on you know, when it comes out on Facebook, and you hear from past athletes and kids, it just means a lot, you know. It was the reaction of former players that made the announcement feel right, though. He’s begun to wean himself away from that sport, too, and will probably stay on for another year as an assistant, before hanging that up, too, and finishing off his career as a teacher. And then when the girls moved to the winter … you know, it’s just such a long grind,” Simpson said.
